WHO AM I? I was born in Maryland on November 9, 1731. I was a clockmaker and a technical assistant in the calculating and surveying of Washington, DC. I am known as the first African American astronomer. WHO AM I?... I am Benjamin Banneker.

The remaining spring parking permits will go on sale Wednesday, February 8th at 7:30 AM in Coach Alexander’s office (1209). All students needing to buy a permit that morning should have all documentation and payment ready to go. See Coach Alexander for questions

Students, This is a reminder that all applications to be on yearbook staff, literary magazine and newspaper staff are due no later than February 15th. Attention all chess enthusiasts! Do you want to improve your game, regardless of skill? Do you want to learn how to play bughouse and other chess variants? Or do you want to simply play a few casual games? The AHS chess club will be meeting next Wednesday (February 8th) after school in Dr. Rollot's room (4213). Head over to the meeting for more information!"
Applications are now available for Northside Hospital’s Volunteen Program. The application deadline is February 24, but acceptance into the program is very limited and on a first come, first served basis. Packets are available in the Summer Opportunities crate in the College and Career Cove, outside Counseling Suite 1310.

Have any jeans lying around that no longer fit or just aren’t your style? Please donate any gently used jeans of any size, brand, and color to our Teens for Jeans service project. All jeans should be brought to your 1st period class. We will collect jeans beginning on Tuesday January 17th-February 12th. All jeans will be donated to homeless teens in our area. We will be competing with other schools and the winning school will be awarded a free new pair of jeans for each student! The 1st period class to bring in the most jeans will also be rewarded with a breakfast party. Thank you in advance for your support of this wonderful cause!
