WHO AM I? I was born on January 26, 1892 in Texas. I was the first black licensed pilot in the United States. I was proclaimed “the world’s greatest woman flyer” when I gave my first performance at an air show at Curtiss field, near New York City. WHO AM I?

Attention all Alpharetta High School students! This Friday, February 24th during 4A and 4B lunches we will be having the 3rd Annual Great Hang-Up! This is where you can pledge to not Text & Drive anymore. The pledge sheets will be located by the front entrance to the cafeteria so stop by and pledge to not Text & Drive!
The Jr. Class is Raffling off $195.00 worth of Prom tickets, and a $100 package to MUSE. Tickets are on sale during both lunches and the winner will be announced at the pageant and fashion show this Friday night in the auditorium, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO WIN! Good Luck!
The Science National Honor Society is sponsoring the American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, February 23 from 9am to 2pm. Sign up during lunch or see Mrs. Howell in 2306. All donors will receive an appreciation gift and will be a hero to someone in need.

Juniors and seniors, several colleges are coming for visits to Alpharetta High School early next week. Please check the list, and see Mrs. Edmiston in 1320 for a pass to attend.
AHS Book club Feed My Read is proud to support the African Library Project where we Recycle your books to start a library in Africa. The book collection will take place for 2 weeks from February the 13th till February 24th. Please drop off the books in the Media center.
Students, we want to encourage you to visit the AHS College and Career Cove to research enrichment opportunities, scholarships, and college and career options but we cannot allow students to use the Cove for doing class work, homework, or eating breakfast and lunch. Thank you.
ATTN SENIORS: Balfour will be here Thursday February 23rd to collect the $95 graduation fee. Remember the fee goes up to $105 after March 1st.
Senior girls, you may be eligible for a free prom dress from Operation PROM. You must be graduating with the Class of 2012, in financial need and passing all of your classes. Applications are available in Counseling Suite 1320. The application deadline is February 24, and the shopping day is March 3.
Seniors… Start looking for those cute and funny baby pictures. Baby pictures will be collected in the front office until Monday, March 12th. Each Senior can submit up to two pictures. Please be sure to write your name on the back of your pictures. The categories will be: Best Dressed, Cutest Smile, Most Recognizable, Best Hair, Best Eyes, and Most Adorable. The Baby Picture Contest will take place in the cafeteria starting Thursday, March 22nd with pictures being on display. Voting will take place on Monday and Tuesday March 26th and 27th during both lunch periods. Prizes will be given away to the winners at the Senior Luncheon on March 28th. Applications are now available for Northside Hospital’s Volunteen Program. The application deadline is February 24, but acceptance into the program is very limited and on a first come, first served basis. Packets are available in the Summer Opportunities crate in the College and Career Cove, outside Counseling Suite 1310.
Senior Raiders, we have more scholarships for you! Don’t let MONEY pass you by! Scholarships are frequently being added to our list so check out these scholarships on the AHS website www.ahsraiders.com under the “Seniors ‘12” tab at the top of the page.
Students, there are new enrichment opportunities and scholarships which can be found in the College and Career Cove. Check by often to look through the crates as new offerings are added every week.
