ABSENCES:
  • A student must submit a written excuse with signature of their parent/guardian to the Attendance Office within 3 days of the student returning to school.
  • An e-mail or faxed note containing a parent/guardian phone number for verification will also be accepted.
  • Absences for which the student fails to submit a written excuse with the parent/guardian signature within 3 days of returning to school will be counted unexcused. Any e-mail or faxed note without a parent/guardian phone number will also be recorded as unexcused.
  • Notes will not be accepted after 3 days.
  • Students absent on final exam days must have a parent/guardian contact the Attendance Office (770-521-7640 ext. 140) on the morning of the absence in order for the absence to be considered as excused.
TARDINESS TO SCHOOL:
  • Students arriving tardy to school during first period who do not have a written note from a parent/guardian are to report directly to their first period class and will be counted as tardy to class.
  • Students arriving tardy to school during first period with a written note from a parent/guardian are to check-in through the Attendance Office before reporting to class.
  • Students arriving tardy to school after first period must check-in through the Attendance Office prior to reporting to class.
CHECKING OUT
  • When being excused from school after the student has arrived on campus, the student should take a written request signed by a parent/guardian to the Attendance Office before school. The student will be issued a checkout pass stating when the student is authorized to leave campus.
  • All requests for checking-out must include the reason for the check-out, the student’s homeroom number, and a phone number for parental verification.
  • Request to check a student in or out of school on exam days and on the school day preceding a major holiday must be made in person by a parent/guardian.
A detailed policy on all attendance procedures can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook (pages 7-9), which was given to your student at the beginning of school.
