AHS has recently begun to work with a nonprofit based in Roswell, GA called GivingPoint, which gives teens the opportunity to discover their civic passion and track their service hours. The unique part about GivingPoint is that teens can earn points that can be turned into cash grants for the nonprofits they care about. As teens begin to track their service contributions and earn points on the website through interactive tools and quizzes, they create their civic transcript (that can be downloaded for our service cord graduation requirements and/or college applications). The website, www.MyGivingPoint.org is a wonderful resource to inspire teens and help the causes that they care most about. For every 500 points earned, you can get $250 in micro-grants for nonprofits. Think of all those volunteer hours that can be transferred into grants to help our community! Alpharetta High School will be using GivingPoint to track and record our student service cord program requirements. All seniors who want to earn a service cord must earn 500 GivingPoints and apply for a GivingPoint grant. Please see the slideshow below for an overview of GivingPoint and download the attachments at the bottom of this page for more information about how to sign up and earn service hours for GivingPoint. |
